Velocast: Giro Stage 1
18:28
Analysis of opening Team Time Trial at the 2015 Giro d'Italia.
Velocast: Giro Stage 2
18:19
Nerves, excitement, and momentary inattention are the usual hallmarks of the first sprinters stage in a grand tour, and this Giro was really no different as we saw several crashes pepper the stunning Ligurian coastline. When the peloton finally made it to the finish line in Genoa, it was Team Sky’s Elia Viviani who took an impressive win, in a sprint that was as strong as it was clever.
Velocast: Giro Stage 3
28:14
A joyous win for the Maglia Rosa, but a stage marred by an absolutely terrifying crash for AG2R's Domenico Pozzovivo.
Velocast: Giro Stage 4
30:59
Today’s stage, racing 150 km from Chiavari to La Spezia, was one of the most bizarre, epic, insane, fascinating, and downright enjoyable day’s racing we’ve seen for quite some time. A sensational win for young Davide Formolo, and a much needed one for his Cannondale-Garmin team.
Velocast: Giro Stage 5
28:50
Approaching the first summit finish of this year’s Giro, the peloton almost managed to hoodwink us all into believing that today, at last, we’d see things settle down to something approaching normality. A small, focused breakaway group had a convincing lead, and Orica-Greenedge controlled the pace behind. But then, just as the gradient reached its most challenging, Alberto Contador decided to tear up the script once more.
Velocast: Giro Stage 6
28:50
Once again there was drama at the Giro. And like on Stage 3 with Domenico Pozzovivo, it comes in the way of a horrific looking crash, this one coming during the sprint finish, and behind a perfect win for Lotto-Soudal’s Andre Greipel.
Velocast: Giro Stage 7
19:29
Aside from Bert’s bruises, today’s somewhat transitional stage was heavily weighted towards the final 200m, where we saw a powerhouse sprint from Lampre-Merida’s Diego Ulissi to take the win.
Velocast: Giro Stage 8
27:44
In light of his dislocated shoulder, today’s summit finish was a big test for the Maglia Rosa. However, despite a fearsome pace set by Astana, and an attack by Fabio Aru on the final climb, Alberto Contador, and his shoulder, were up to the challenge of defending his general classification lead.
Velocast: Giro Stage 9
24:20
The first Grand Tour of the season continues to thrill and throw up some frankly incredible racing. There was also heartbreak for Tom Jelte Slagter who was caught and dropped by Astana's Paolo Tiralongo who, at 37, becomes the oldest winner of a Giro stage.
Velocast: What Has Oleg Ever Done For Us?

Giro 2015 Stage 12
21:37
Short, sharp, leg-snapping climbs, slippery descents, battling through pouring rain and a win for Philippe Gilbert? If you were not paying a great deal attention you would be forgiven for thinking we were watching Amstel Gold.
Giro 2015 Stage 13
23:04
Just when you think you can get a bit shirty about a really boring stage on this year's Giro, some muppet goes and ruins it by taking a tumble 300 m before the 3 km kite.

From Tirano to Lugano, today, the scenery more than made up for largely conventional racing, where it was Lampre's Sacha Modolo who took the victory.
Giro 2015 Stage 18
24:08
Alberto Contador attacked to the tune of Karma Chameleon and put more time into his Astana rivals, while Philipe Gilbert partied like it was the Giro di Lombardia and took a thrilling solo win from the day's break.
Giro 2015 Stage 19
21:26
Fabio Aru who, having been buried by Contador's Giro onslaught for the past week, rose up today and repeatedly attacked the 1st category climb to Cervinia. In the process he took the both the stage win and restored his 2nd place on the podium. As you do.
Giro 2015 Stage 20
22:59
The Maglia Rosa in trouble, Astana ripping the race apart, Astana ripping each other apart, and Astana being as tactically astute as a duck wearing a mod t-shirt during the hunting season.
Giro 2015 Stage 21
34:04
The Giro d’Italia laughs in the face of traditional, tweaks the nose of normality, and has a crafty feel of the bottom of the bog-standard. No other conclusion can possibly be drawn from a final stage where the breakaway succeeds, half the peloton suffer multiple punctures, and, again, one team fall foul of some really questionable tactics.

Giro 2019 Stage 1
17:56
The 102nd Giro d’Italia got underway this afternoon in the appropriately pretty town of Bologna. The 8 km individual time trial which culminated in a punishing 2 km climb to the San Luca Basilica proved to be somewhat of an opening day reckoning for some and definitive stamp of authority for others.
Giro 19 - Stage 2
22:22
The peloton of the 102nd Giro d’Italia raced together for the first time today across the the 205 km stage 2 from Bologna to Fuchecchio.
Giro 2019 - Stage 3
19:49
Stage 3 of the 2019 Giro d’Italia was day designed for the sprinters, and as expected it was one which saw the vast majority of its action take place in the final five of the 220 kms raced.

However, not everything went exactly go to plan....
Giro d'Italia 2019 - Stage 4
18:32
No one was expecting was a major upset in the general classification on today's stage 4 from . And like with yesterday’s stage 3, it was a crash inside the final kilometres which caused the upset. Today, though, those involved were GC favourites, and the time losses suffered were much more significant.
Giro 2019 - Stage 5
14:45
Following discussions between riders and commissaires, the timing for Stage 5 today was neutralised at the 10km point leaving a nervous peloton to duke out an anxious sprint at the finish line in Terracina.
Giro 2019 - Stage 6
18:33
Stage 6 from Cassino to San Giovanni Rotondo gave us a breakaway win and a new Maglia Rosa in the Giro d'Italia.

Stage 7 of this year’s Giro d’Italia saw another win for the breakaway as the riders raced the 185 km from Vasto to l'Aquila.
Giro 2019 - Stage 8
21:48
Despite us having been somewhat flumuxed as to how the day would pan out, Stage 8 of this year’s Giro d’Italia from Tortoreto Lido Pesaro culminated in a relatively formulaic sprint between the remaining trio of top tier specialists.
Giro 2019 - Stage 9
23:33
Derek Troy from The Flammecast joins us to discuss the 34.8 km time trial Stage 9 from Riccione to San Marino.
Reading Room - Pantani era un dio
58:27
Cillian talks to Colin O'Brien about his English translation of Marco Pastonesi's book Pantani era un dio (Pantani was a God)
Giro 2019 - Stage 10
15:53
The peloton yawned its way through the 145 sleepy kms of Stage 10 from Ravenna to Modena. A pan-flat parcourse and pleasant conditions led to a day which looked more like a bloated Sunday club run than anything approaching a race in a Grand Tour.

That was until the rude awakening of the flamme rouge where one of the favourites for the win crashed and took a great deal of bunch with him.
Giro 2019 - Stage 11
18:28
Stage 11 of this year's Giro d'Italia was 221 kms from Carpi to Novi Ligure......and that's as much as we can say about it.
Giro 2019 - Stage 12
21:03
While it was certainly a day for the breakaway win, there were breakaways from the breakaway, and breakaways from the peloton who had entirely their own thing going on many minutes behind.

The result of all this atomisation on Stage 12 from Cuneo to Pinerolo is that UAE have passed the maglia rosa from Valerio Conti to one of his teammates.
Giro 2019 - Stage 13
27:17
Across the stunning final 30 km plus of climbing up to Ceresole Reale, the Italian Alps played host to a feast of bike racing today in the Giro d'Italia. A day-long break which looked to be done and dusted as the climbing started somehow managed to escape the clutches of the peloton as each bunch shattered into there essentially being as many groups on the road as there were riders in the race.
Giro 2019 - Stage 14
25:55
Ahead of today’s Stage 14 from Saint-Vincent to Courmayeur, the sensible money was on the GC action coming from the vicious Colle San Carlo. In a sense, that’s true, but much of what was we have to discuss came from the descent off the Cat 1 mountain and the relatively benign ascent to the stage finish.
Giro 2019 - Stage 15
28:09
The so-called mini-Lombardia of Stage 15 at this year’s Giro d’Italia had everything the Race of the Falling Leaves usually gives us: the leg-sapping distance, the stunning scenery, the biting climbs, and the sweeping descents around lake Como.
Giro 2019 - Stage 16
26:28
The Passo di Gavia was aborted due to the threat of avalanche on today’s Stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia, and it's likely that most of the peloton spent the afternoon wishing the Mortirolo have gone with it. Cold, wet, miserable conditions cursed the upper portions of the famous mountain making its descent a truly frightening prospect.

Yet, in the shape of riders like Vincenzo Nibali, and the Movistar duo of Carapaz & Landa there was still some great GC action to discuss.
Giro 2019 - Stage 17
23:15
Stage 17 of this year’s Giro d’Italia offered up another win for the break. And it was another first-time pro win for a rider in that break.
Giro 2019 - Stage 18
18:46
In what’s turning out to be a remarkable Giro for the escapologists of the peloton, Stage 18 of this year’s event offered up another win for the break.
Giro 2019 - Stage 19
16:48
The outcome of today’s stage 19 from Treviso to San Martino di Castrozza made it 5 in a row for the breakaway.
Giro 2019 - Stage 20
25:25
The mountains of the Giro d’Italia are over for another year. Today the peloton traversed the Cima Campo, Manghen and Rolle passes before the conjoined twins of the Passo Croce d’Aune and the summit finish of Monte Avena.

Tactics, attacks, and counter attacks were the order of the almost 6 hours of riding across 194 km as those at the highest echelons of the GC made their moves for whatever advantage they could get ahead of tomorrow’s final TT.
Giro 2019 - Stage 21
16:50
Appropriately azure blue skies and an historic city swathed in pink welcomed the finale of the 102nd Giro d’Italia as the riders took it in turns to race the 17 km on the individual time trial of Stage 21.
Giro 2019 - Review
41:02
The 102nd Giro d’Italia ended yesterday with a new name being etched on to the Trofeo Senza Fine. Richard Carapaz wasn’t a name anyone predicted would emerge as the winner 3 weeks ago.

So is the story of the 2019 Giro simply a salient lesson for those of us required to make hasty prognostications in the face of 3,578 unpredictable kilometres?

Maybe. Or maybe not. We look back at events from Bologna to Verona to see what actually happened.
Criterium Du Dauphine 2019
32:05
That big, pre-Tour de France warm-up, the Criterium du Dauphine, got underway today with Grand Boucle GC hopefuls such as Chris Froome, Adam Yates, Romain Bardet, and Nairo Quintana, looking to hone their form in the event ahead of the jamboree in July.
Tour de Suisse & Criterium du Dauphine
45:07
Those pre-Tour de France amuse bouches, the Criterium Du Dauphine and the Tour de Suisse, were, in one way or another dominated by Team Ineos, but absolutely not in the way they would have hoped.

Chris Froome’s hopes of a 5th Grand Boucle win evaporated following an horrific crash ahead of the Dauphine’s Stage 4 time trial, with, by all accounts, the 34-year old lucky to escape with his life.

A week later, defending Tour champion Geraint Thomas crashed out of the Tour de Suisse, and while his injuries were only superficial and the Welshman has been cleared for July, the chance to properly test his legs in Switzerland will certainly be unwelcome.

On this week’s show we look back to an extraordinary couple of weeks and what those events mean for the calendar’s biggest event.

23:59
The biggest bike race of them all arrived back in France for today’s stage 3 to Epernay. And not only did the peloton come back home, so too did the maillot jaune as Mike Teunissen found the categorised climbs in the day’s finale an effort too far.
Mellow Yellow Velo 2019 - Stage 4
09:56
Ashley House looks through the morning's cycling press where, predictably, there is only one story: Julian Alaphilippe in yellow.
